
Disaster Response
The Humane Society of Tulsa has the ability to respond to emergency and disaster situations. We can provide immediate response to natural disasters including rescue, sheltering, veterinary services and victim support services.
Humane Society of Tulsa is also equipped and experienced in handling large scale animal rescue including hoarding cases, commercial breeder closings, defunct animal shelters or other situations.












YOUR ANIMAL RESPONSE TEAM HEART of Oklahoma is a highly specialized animal response team that can respond to any situation involving pets in crisis. We respond to both natural disasters such as tornadoes, floods and wildfires as well as man-made disasters including puppy mills, hoarders, and cruelty cases.
RESPONDING IN A MATTER OF HOURS HEART of Oklahoma is based out of Tulsa, OK. We operate a 5,000 square foot warehouse that stockpiles emergency supplies and equipment year round. We operate several mobile units including three animal transport vans, a 33’ mobile sheltering unit, a 26’ mobile veterinary clinic, 26’ mobile command center and equipment trailer capable of setting up an emergency animal shelter for 300 dogs and cats.

CAN I JOIN THE HEART TEAM?
We welcome anyone with an interest in helping animals to join HEART. Our volunteers live all across Oklahoma and even other states. When an emergency arises – we need a vast number of volunteers to perform a variety of duties. Examples include: Animal Care Givers Phone Bank Animal Handlers* Photographers Data Entry Registration Donation Management Search & Rescue* Drivers Veterinarians* Groomers Veterinary Technicians*
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
1. Attend an annual HEART training class/exercise 2. Become state credentialed via the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corp 3. *Certain team member roles require additional advanced training, certification or experience
