We are so excited you are interested in our volunteer program! The Humane Society of Tulsa is a no-kill Pet Adoption and Rescue Center located at 68th and Memorial on the upper level of the Village Shopping Center. The Adoption Center is open to the public seven days a week and there are over fifty dogs and cats in our care each day.

Truth is the Humane Society of Tulsa would not be a success with out the help from volunteers. Volunteers help with all aspects of the Adoption Center from daily care of the animals to executing and planning special events that are imperative to raise funds for the organization.

Before you apply, please take a look as some of the requirements, expectations, and benefits of the Humane Society of Tulsa volunteer program included in this packet. We want you to be sure this is the right fit for you.

Once your application is received at our Adoption Center, we will contact you to schedule a training course and discuss your volunteer schedule.

We truly appreciate your interest in our organization and hope you find making a difference in the life of a homeless animal as rewarding as we do!

Sincerely,

Ricci Wood

Public Relations Coordinator

Volunteers help our staff create a loving environment for homeless dogs and cats arriving at our Adoption Center. Each new animal needs a good name, a collar that fits just right, a new toy to play with and all the love and attention they can get!

While the animals stay with us at the Adoption Center, volunteers help take care of them every day. Our dogs need to be walked at least 4 times a day for optimal exercise. Volunteers take dogs into the indoor playground to socialize them and teach them good behavior which will help them find a new home more quickly. Volunteers socialize cats by spending time with them and allowing them play time each day.

We ask that each volunteer consistently work a four hour shift at our Adoption Center. While most volunteers choose to work their four hour shift one day each week, we understand that this may not always be possible. We also offer a volunteer position that requires a four hour shift every other week. We ask that volunteers make a minimum and regular time commitment to ensure that volunteers are adequately trained and familiar with our animals as well as any changes in policies or procedures.

We host several special events and fundraisers through the year. Fundraisers are vital to the Humane Society of Tulsa since we are a non-profit organization which relies solely on donations. Special events also raise awareness and help more animals find good homes. Before each event, we set out a sign up sheet for those who wish to participate.
