Winger is Better~And Ready for Adoption
Monday, March 31, 2008
I am sure most of you remember our special friend Winger. He is doing so much better and is ready for adoption. This little ray of joy will need to go to a special home, one who is willing to be patient and understanding. Please read below for a quick re-cap of Winger's story. If you feel you would make the right home for this very special dog, give us a call at 250-DOGS(3647)or come visit us at 68th and Memorial today!

Watch the video below to see how much Winger has improved!

Winger, a 4 year old Jack Russell mix, was adopted from the Humane Society of Tulsa(HST) about two years ago normal and healthy. He came back to us not by the original family that adopted him and right away we could tell something was really wrong! He had body tremors and couldn't keep his balance very well, especially in the hind legs...the family that returned him gave no explanation of why he was in this current condition.

Winger was taken to the OSU Teaching Hospital to see a team of neurological specialist. After running tests it was determined that Winger has a cerebellar disease. A pet being diagnosed with any kind of illness is nerve racking and scary however it was really great to hear that with medication and some time there is a good chance for a full recovery. Everyone at HST was relieved to know that Winger was going to be ok.

Today Winger has shown much improvement! He isn't 100% but can now keep better balance and the body tremors have lessened significantly. While Dr. Karn, HST staff veterinarian, thinks this is more than likely the most he will improve Winger is nothing but a happy little dog with an infectious personality. He is wonderful with kids, cats and is fully potty trained but most of all just high on life! He won't be able to do things like walk up stairs or play rough, but that doesn't bother him. When he falls, he simply gets back up and keeps on going!

Even though it seems Winger will always be mildly handicapped there is no reason why he isn't able to live a very happy life. He is going to need a special person that is willing to show unconditional love. We promise, you won't regret adding Winger to your family!

Lucy Needs You...
Wednesday, April 30, 2008
Lucy a one year old Boston Terrier, came to the Humane Society last November. She was rescued from a horrible breeder situation and on top of only being used for breeding
purposes it was also discovered she has a heart condition.

Her particular condition basically consists of her aorta being too small.
Meaning her blood is pumped at a regular rate to the heart but isn’t being pumped out at the same speed, making the left side being stretched.

The amount of time Lucy has left is not known. It could range anywhere from six months to a year and half, but what we do want for Lucy is a home for her to live the remainder of her time whatever that may be, that loves and cares for her more than anything.

A task such as this takes a very special person. If you might be interested in Lucy please visit her at the Adoption Center located at 68th and Memorial or if you would like more information please call us at 250-DOGS
